School officials, alongside Anne Kang, B.C.’s minister of advanced education, unveiled plans Tuesday morning for the six-storey, nearly 89,000-square-foot complex that will house first- and second-year students, with a priority for Indigenous students.

“Creating this opportunity for learners to live where they study will bring a pivotal revitalization to our main campus, reduce housing barriers and enhance the CapU experience for student residents.” North Vancouver’s Capilano University will build on-campus student housing for the first time. The sustainably designed complex will feature 362 student beds, a dining hall, laundry facilities, study areas, lounges, a kitchen on each floor, and a First Nations-focused reflection and gathering space.Accommodations will include 52 single- and 154 double-occupancy units; of the single-occupancy units, a dozen will be designed for students with accessibility challenges.
