The celebration of things once considered geeky attracted hundreds of people, many of them wearing elaborate costumes or dressed up like their favourite characters from anime, video games, comics and movies, as well as more than 65 vendors.The 19-year-old Sydney resident spent a few hours fashioning a mushroom hat from cardboard and a thrifted housecoat and lace tablecloth, which she used to top off an outfit that included a big flowy skirt, bracelets and rings.
