Kateri Stevens is the owner of Sequoia’s Cafe in Eskasoni. CONTRIBUTEDESKASONI — To hear everything that is on Kateri Stevens’ plate is to have instant admiration for the Eskasoni entrepreneur’s drive.Stevens has five children — the youngest of whom is two — and oh yes, she also has a full-time day job, and is a certified life coach.

“I feel like people have challenges trying to open a business, being a woman person with children especially, a person that is constantly busy, has a job and whatever, how would you know it wouldn’t work if you didn't give it a shot?” she said. Stevens also expanded her employees to 15 from a handful, so she’s contributing those opportunities to the Eskasoni community.

Smoothies of multiple flavours, such as dragon fruit, berry and mango, have become a house speciality. Strawberry and banana are huge sellers.Stevens has adapted by adding some burgers and fries and all-day breakfast.
