SaltWire's Atlantic regional weather forecast for October 26, 2023 | SaltWireCape Breton University's 2023 Mawio'mi was held Thursday on campus at the Sullivan Field House.
The rhythmic drumming of Crazy Bear and the Indian Bay Singers filled the field house, guided by arena director Michael R. Denny and master of ceremonies Aaron Prosper, both of Eskasoni First Nation. Kate Jadis, Leon Julian and Johanna Googoo represented the diversity of the Mi'kmaq community in assuming the roles of lead female, male and Two-Spirit dancer respectfully.
