'Everyone has to be focused'
Brody Dawson of the Joneljim Cougars, right, will lead his team into the Nova Scotia Under-15 Major Hockey League provincial championship tournament this week in Truro. Dawson led the team in points during the regular season and had five points in two playoff games against the Valley Wildcats earlier this month. JASON MALLOY/SALTWIRE NETWORK.NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. — The Joneljim Cougars know what it’s like to overcome adversity throughout a season.
Despite the uphill battle, Cougars captain Brody Dawson believes his team has what it takes to get to the next level and hopefully win a provincial title this weekend. The Cougars finished the regular season in fifth place in the 12-team league with a 17-12-2-2 record. The team was nine points behind the fourth-place Truro Bearcats.
Cougars head coach Michael Lyle said his team deserves to be in the provincial tournament just as much as any other team.
