Security personnel, who have been given special constable status by the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, will be issuing parking tickets to those violating the rules. According to the municipality's bylaws, the fines for parking in a fire lane are $136 for the first offence, $236 for the second offence and $436 for the third offence. The main entrance of the hospital features a canopy designated for patient pick-up and drop-off, but vehicles should be moved to the parking lot as soon as possible after picking up patients.
