JEREMY FRASER/CAPE BRETON POST.SYDNEY, N.S. – The Cape Breton Eagles dropped their third straight game on Friday, losing 6-2 to the Halifax Mooseheads in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action at Centre 200 in Sydney.
Evan Boucher, Markus Vidicek, Brody Fournier, Zachary L'Heureux and Jake Furlong netted goals for the Mooseheads .Mathis Rousseau made 33 saves. Cape Breton's Nicolas Ruccia stopped 21 of 26 shots before being replaced by Oliver Satny, who turned aside all 14 shots he faced in his 26:39 of relief. Cape Breton opened the scoring with Daigle notching his fourth of the season, but Halifax responded with goals from Boucher, Vidicek and Fournier to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.
Halifax added to the lead in the second period with L'Heureux scoring his first of the season and Furlong recording his third of the season to give the club a 5-1 lead. Cape Breton pulled to within three late in the frame with Desruisseaux banging home his second of the year at 19:50.Halifax outshot Cape Breton 41-35 while going 0-for-4 on the power play. The Eagles were 0-for-4 with the man-advantage.
Cape Breton will return to the ice on Sunday when they host the Charlottetown Islanders.
