CONTRIBUTED/MIKE SULLIVANSYDNEY — Trevor Thurston's goal with less than nine minutes remaining broke a 1-1 tie and helped the Cape Breton Eagles to a 3-1 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Saturday night.
Antoine Roy also scored a goal and added an assist for the Eagles , while Cam Squires clinched the win at Centre 200 with an empty-netter.Goalie Oliver Satny returned from injury and stopped 27 of 28 shots for the Eagles, while Sea Dogs’ Ventislav Shingarov turned aside of 38 of 40. The game marked the Eagles’ second annual Heritage Night at the Nest, as the home team wore specially designed grey jerseys to honour the history of coal mining in Cape Breton. The jerseys were raffled off to fans in support of the Miners Museum in Glace Bay.It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
