Kris Granchelli, originally of Sydney, was part of Team Canada, skipped by Paul Flemming, who claimed the world title with a 4-3 win over the United States in eight ends in the championship game in Ostersund, Sweden on Saturday.Canada posted a perfect 6-0 record at the tournament and secured its spot in the final with a 9-6 win over the host Sweden. Canada beat Norway 7-2 in the quarterfinal.

Team Canada has won five straight men’s titles since 2018. The tournament was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The Flemming rink earned a spot in the international tournament by winning the national final over Saskatchewan earlier this season in Vernon, B.C. On the women’s side, Team Canada also claimed the gold medal with a 7-3 victory over Lithuania in the championship game. The team was skipped by Susan Froud of Alliston, Ont.
