GLACE BAY — Cape Breton cadets will be enhancing their skills in leadership, instructional technique and ceremonial activities this weekend.

The training session, which begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, will be hosted by the Regional Cadet Support Unit and is intended to help build the skills to be confident and successful leaders. It will take place at the Dr. Guglielmo Marconi Armoury, 78 Sterling Rd., Glace Bay. Approximately 75 senior cadets from 21 cadet units throughout Cape Breton are expected to be in attendance.

There will be an awards ceremony immediately following the event to honour staff members of the Cadet Organizations Administration and Training Service. “During the training this weekend we are awarding the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal to 10 staff members,” said Lt. Kendall McCann, zone training officer. “The purpose of the medal is to honour those who devote themselves to the service of others.”It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
