Defence lawyer James Snow recommended a sentence of three years and agreed with Gouthro’s other recommendations. The young victim admitted to police she soon became attracted to MacNeil who she said was very attentive and helpful with her problems. “I didn’t have a choice. He decided where to have sex, when to have sex, how fast. I had no control,” she told investigators.Gouthro likened the relationship to a master/slave scenario.
