The Vancouver Canucks have traded forward J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers in exchange for players and a first-round pick. Miller, a key player for the Canucks, has seen his ice time reduced in recent weeks.

The Vancouver Canucks have made a significant trade, sending forward J.T. Miller , along with Erik Brannstrom and Jackson Dorrington, to the New York Rangers in exchange for Players involved in the deal. The Canucks will also receive a first-round pick in 2025, protected within the top 13. If the pick falls within that range, it will convert to an unprotected pick in 2026. Reports had indicated growing tension between Miller, who experienced reduced ice time in recent weeks, and his teammate.

In mid-January, it was widely speculated in the NHL that Miller was more likely to be moved before the trade deadline compared to his teammate. Miller, a 6-foot-1 center, is currently in the second season of a seven-year, $56 million contract with an annual cap hit of $8 million. He is slated to become an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the 2029-30 season. Last season, Miller achieved a career high with 37 goals and 103 points, contributing significantly to the Canucks' 50-23-9 record and their Pacific Division championship. Selected 21st overall by the Rangers in 2017, Chytil is currently in the second year of a four-year, $17.75 million contract, carrying an average value of $4.44 million.
