Back-to-backs are never easy, but they’re especially difficult when the second game is at the raucous United Center

5:30 p.m., United Center, Sportsnet, Sportsnet 650It’s only natural that Thatcher Demko is expected to get the goaltending call on second half of back-to-back games. It’s unnatural that a stopper projected to be more than a caddy to superlative stopper Jacob Markstrom hasn’t had more starts.

Demko’s last appearance was in relief March 9 after Markstrom allowed five goals on 16 shots during a 6-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. He gave up one goal in 17 shots and in four appearances this season, he has a 3.21 goals-against average and .895 saves percentage. And with just one more back-to-back on the schedule, there’s no guarantee Demko will split the cage rest of the way.
