From right-wing backlash to Apple's TV play — these 3 big questions will dominate conversations at the Cannes Lions.

Fura Johannesdottir, global chief creative officer at agency Huge, said she expects advertisers to evaluate how they address the issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community.

"For any brand that considers members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community to be their customer or their audience, addressing or talking about the recent backlash to LGBTQ+ campaigns is appropriate, and in some cases, essential," she said. The rapid rise of generative AI took the advertising and media worlds by storm.

"We're all trying to solve the question of fast, efficient, low-fi creative that can be moved in and out of the market at the speed of consumer behavior," said Priceline SVP of strategy and brand marketing Lesley Klein. She said that Priceline is exploring how AI can help its business. Sir Martin Sorrell, founder and executive chairman of ad agency group S4 Capital will speak about AI's impact on the ad industry, and a panel with Accenture ad execs David Droga and Nick Law will explore how generative AI is reshaping creativity.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to hobnob with the company that kicked off the generative AI storm last November. Simon Cook, Cannes Lions CEO, told Insider that top executives from ChatGPT developer OpenAI like chief operating officer Brad Lightcap will attend the festival."There is a real point of tension right now in the creative community around the role of generative AI, which will certainly play out in real time at Cannes," said Huge's Johannesdottir.
