At least according to records on MaxPreps, the two teams had never played soccer against each other before. Or at least recently. It wasn’t a regular district opener for senior Mario Leon, one of the top goal producers in Caney Creek history.“For me, it was something special,” he said. “It was our first district game as a 6A team. Words can’t describe it. It was against a school that is our rival. That’s our main rival. Conroe High School-Caney Creek – big rivalry.’With just over a minute left, Emmanuel Gloria put in a shot that deflected off the Conroe goalkeeper and into the corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.
Gloria’s goal was something a coach loves to see out of a player who might not always see extended playing time.
