New mom Natalie Spooner opens the scoring in Brampton on the way to victory over the Swiss.

Spooner found herself in close, pounced on a loose puck and made no mistake with a wrist shot. She also picked up an assist for a two-point night. The Scarborough native now has 26 goals and 22 assists in 45 games for Canada.“It feels like he’s been here forever, but he’ll be four months old ,” Spooner said. “I wish he could remember this more and know more of what’s going on, because I think it’s special for him to be surrounded by so many amazing women.

Her son was also on hand throughout the game, on a night when Canada’s opener drew a crowd of 3,510 on home ice. “It’s a lot to juggle, but he has so many aunties around,” Spooner said. “They hold him at meals, make sure he’s happy when I eat, so he’s been pretty happy around the girls. He loves them.”
