U.S. scores twice in final minute of thir period, Rattray ends parade of 18 shooters,

Canada met up with a never-quit American team in the final game of pool play at the women’s world championship in Brampton on Monday.

“I wish we would have won it earlier, but it was a good hockey game,” Canadian goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens said. “You kind of have to stop the next shooter until one of your players scores, and that’s what Rattray did for us” Canada’s Brianne Jenner beat American goaltender Aerin Frankel to open the shootout, and Knight countered with a goal on Debiens, but the goaltenders took over after that. Desbiens stopped the next eight shooters, including Knight twice, and Frankel turned back seven, including Sarah Fillier and Marie-Philip Poulin twice each — before Rattray’s winner, which gave Canada first place in Pool A.
