LAS VEGAS — Canadian strawweight Gillian Robertson, using her ground game to control the action, won a unanimous decision over Brazil's Luana Pinheiro on the main card of a UFC Fight Night on Saturday.
The main event at the UFC's Apex production facility pitted American veteran Neil Magny, ranked 15th among welterweight contenders, against Carlos Prates of Brazil."A second decision in a row," Robertson lamented."That's not what I'm here for. I'm here to finish fights.Robertson held a 52-42 edge in significant strikes and was good on five of 17 takedown attempts, according to UFC Stats.
Pinheiro let her hands go in the second round as Robertson, a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, stalked her — unsuccessfully looking to get the fight to the ground. Robertson got hold of Pinheiro late in the round, dragging her down briefly.
