Police said that a man who ran down a group of pedestrians with a van in the Canadian province of Quebec, killing two elderly men and injuring nine other people, did so intentionally
A 38-year-old man was arrested after the collision, which took place on Monday in Amqui, located about 400 miles northeast of Montreal.
"What the probe shows is the actions were premeditated. also shows that the people were targeted at random," said Claude Doiron, a spokesperson for the provincial police force. Doiron, speaking to reporters in televised remarks, said the suspect was cooperating in the investigation but his motives remained unknown.
