The Canadian men's national soccer team maintains its career-high ranking of 31st in the latest FIFA world rankings for 2025. Despite minimal movement in the rankings, Canada continues its upward trajectory after recent successes.

The Canadian men's soccer team maintains its career-high ranking of 31st in the FIFA world rankings for 2025. The latest rankings, released on Thursday, show minimal movement. Although there were 1,181 men's international matches in 2024, only 21 took place since the November 28th edition of the rankings. Consequently, the top 113 countries' positions remained unchanged. Argentina, the reigning World Cup champion, continues to hold the top spot, followed by France, Spain, England, and Brazil.

Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Germany complete the top 10. Canada's climb began in November 2024, reaching 31st after victories over Suriname in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals. This places Canada between Hungary and Serbia in the rankings. Canada currently ranks third in CONCACAF, trailing the 16th-ranked United States and 19th-ranked Mexico. In March 2025, Canada will face Mexico in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinal in Inglewood, California. Canada's highest previous ranking was 33rd, achieved in February 2022 under John Herdman. Their progress was recognized by FIFA in 2021 when they were named the 'Most Improved Side' after jumping 32 places to 40th. Canada's lowest ranking was 122nd in October 2014. After starting 2024 in 48th place, Canada fell to 50th in February and held 49th when Jesse Marsch took over as coach in mid-May. Since then, their ranking has steadily improved to 48th, 40th, 38th, 35th, and now 31st. Angola experienced the most significant rise in 2024, climbing 32 places to 85th. Jordan (64th, up 23 places) and Fiji (148th, up 20) also had notable years. Vietnam moved up one spot to 114th in the December rankings. Ten other teams each moved up one position: The Gambia (125th), India (126th), Solomon Islands (147th), Lesotho (149th), Singapore (150th), Rwanda (154th), Bolivia (155th), Myanmar (156th), Luxembourg (157th), and North Macedonia (158th)
