The Ottawa Redblacks, Calgary Stampeders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers have all announced contract extensions for key players.
The Ottawa Redblacks have extended the contract of quarterback Dru Brown for another year, keeping him with the team through the 2026 season. Brown, 27, enjoyed a successful first year with Ottawa in 2024, leading the team to the playoffs for the first time since 2018. He threw for 3,959 yards and 18 touchdowns, playing a key role in the Redblacks' impressive 7-0-1 home record.
The team acquired Brown's negotiating rights from Winnipeg in January 2024 and signed him to a two-year deal shortly after. In a separate development, defensive lineman Folarin Orimolade has agreed to a one-year extension with the Calgary Stampeders, extending his contract to 2026. Orimolade was acquired by Calgary last week from the Toronto Argonauts. He played a crucial role in Toronto's Grey Cup victory last season, recording six sacks, 17 tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble. This marks a return to Calgary for Orimolade, who began his CFL career with the team in 2018 and spent four seasons there before signing with Toronto as a free agent in 2023. The two-time Grey Cup champion has amassed 105 tackles, 11 special-teams tackles, 26 sacks, six forced fumbles, and two interceptions across 68 regular-season games. Meanwhile, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to a one-year extension with defensive back Evan Holm, preventing him from becoming a free agent next month. Holm, 26, enjoyed a breakout season in 2024, leading the Bombers with a career-high 85 tackles. He also contributed a fumble return, four special-teams tackles, and nine pass knockdowns in 18 regular-season games. This will be Holm's fourth season with Winnipeg, having started 40 out of 45 career regular-season appearances
