“That medal opened up possibilities and opportunities and resources. And so that created a big shift in beach volleyball. It was a big impact,” he said. Canada got off to a blistering start in the first set, opening up an 8-2 lead in the first few minutes. But Brazil would not yield, climbing out of that hole and trading points for much of the frame until the two sides were deadlocked at 17. From there, the two teams would lock themselves in seven more ties before Brazil finally emerged with a 26-24 win.
