Canadian defender Meaghan Mikkelson has announced her retirement from international hockey after a successful career that included three Olympic medals and eight women's world medals.

The 38-year-old defender from St. Albert, Alta., won Olympic gold in 2010 and 2014, as well as silver in 2018.
