Trudeau met virtually with other G7 leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday. The G7 leaders released a statement following that meeting reaffirming their support for Ukraine and promising more weapons, as well as funding for the eventual rebuild of the country. Trudeau announced new sanctions as well against 122 individuals and 13 entities, including members of the Russian Parliament, ministers and their families. There are also new sanctions against the country’s defence industry and prohibitions on exports of certain chemicals used in the manufacture of electronics.Article content
