This prestigious tournament serves as a crucial warm-up for the CONCACAF U-17 qualifying matches scheduled for March and April. The outcome of these qualifiers will determine the four representatives from the CONCACAF region at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, slated to take place in Morocco from October 17th to November 8th.
The young Canadian squad will face stiff competition during the MIMA Cup, taking on England on February 11th, Scotland on February 13th, and Sweden on February 15th. All three matches will be held at the Pinatar Arena in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain. 'I'm truly excited about bringing this group of talented players together from across the country as we embark on the next chapter of the U-17 women's national team program,' stated interim U-17 women's coach Gary Moody. 'This camp will provide us with our initial opportunity to evaluate the talent pool as we gear up for the CONCACAF U-17 World Cup qualifiers in April.'Gary Moody's coaching staff for this camp includes Tina Cook as assistant coach, Jed Davies as analyst and technical assistant, and Christopher Cinelli-Faia as goalkeeper/set-piece coach. The 24-player roster boasts a mix of talent from various clubs and regions. Six players hail from CF Montreal, two from Alberta, six from the National Development Centre (NDC) British Columbia, and ten from the NDC Ontario.
