Junior Hoillet opened the scoring and three others added goals to send co-host Canada to the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive edition with a 4-2 victory over Cuba in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday at Shell Energy Stadium.

Substitute Jayden Nelson made it 3-1 by tapping in a loose ball from the center of the box for his second international goal in the 47th minute and Liam Miller finished the scoring by using a cross from Hoilett to score with a header from close range for his first international goal in the 61st minute.

Canada fell to the United States 2-0 in the CONCACAF Nations League final June 18 and has only beaten the United States twice in the past 21 matches in all competitions since 1991. Canada hasn’t beaten Team USA on U.S. soil since 1957. Cuba finished with three losses and fell to Canada for the seventh straight game in all competitions. Luis Paradela converted a penalty in first-half stoppage time and Maikel Reyes made another late in the second half.
