Russia's ambassador to Canada is to be summoned to underscore evidence of brutal killings on the outskirts of Kyiv, Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly says.

Russia’s ambassador to Canada is to be summoned to underscore evidence of brutal killings on the outskirts of Kyiv, Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly says.

“I instructed my deputy minister to summon the Russian ambassador in Ottawa to make sure that he is presented with the images of what happened in Irpin and Bucha,” she told reporters while at NATO headquarters in Brussels. "I summoned the Russian ambassador, I looked at him in the eyes and I told him exactly what I thought was Canada's position," Joly said at the time.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters on Parliament Hill on Wednesday that while he acknowledges Russian representatives here are spreading disinformation about the war, removing them could trigger Russia to do the same to Canadian diplomats in Moscow who have a valuable role to play.
