How focused are New York Jets players, nearly midway through their best season in years?
“Oh man, that sounds amazing,” Shepherd said Thursday night in a phone interview from Jets headquarters in Florham Park, N.J. “It’s kind of funny how you say it like that, because in all actuality, we don’t really think of it that way, with all that magnitude.
“Absolutely, just because there are so many minute details to take care of to win in this league,” the 29-year-old said. “It requires all of your attention. You’re just like, when the week is over, you’ve got 24 hours. Then that’s it. You start it all over again.” After Shepherd’s rookie contract expired this past March, it would have been easy for the Jets to move on from him. But they wanted him back.“It was a great opportunity,” said Shepherd. “I felt. Just because I had a good feeling about this team, about this coaching staff, and I was really just looking forward to having some stability. Whether you call it going with a feeling, or going with your gut, you make a decision and you see it through.
