Niklas Edin will be looking for his fourth world gold medal, while Koe is chasing his third
For the third straight year, Canada and Sweden will square off in the final of the world men’s curling championship.
WOW!!!!! Canada was in deep trouble and Kevin Koe cleaned up the mess with a quadruple takeout! The crowd goes absolutely nuts!!! #wmcc2019 pic.twitter.com/mhNsW7ynqI Canada lead Ben Hebert, who has been to two Olympics, won a gold medal and has won two world championships, was asked how many times he’d ever seen a shot quite like that one.
They kept the pressure up in the sixth and forced Koe to draw the lid simply to get a single, but had to blank the seventh after Koe made yet another brilliant shot — this time a razor-thin double — to take away another multi-point end for the Swiss. “I wanted an out-turn draw in the extra,” Koe said. “I had thrown that one a couple ends earlier. I liked it when I let it go and I was fairly happy to see the guys sweeping it a little bit. I never thought I was heavy. There was a little bit of panic at the end — you couldn’t hear anything because it’s so loud in here. But it hung on and it was perfect.”
Koe has a history of making big shots with little time on the clock, including a Brier-winning double last month against Brendan Bottcher. This one was a little different though.
