Declines in the education and construction sectors “more than offset” gains in other industries, the agency said in its report. The losses over the past three months amount to 114,000, marking the first instance in the pandemic of declines unrelated to lockdowns and restrictions. Average hourly wages rose 5.4 per cent from August last year, compared to 5.2 per cent year-over-year in June and July.
