After the United States reported its first case of polio in more than a decade last month, the Public Health Agency of Canada says it now plans to test this country’s wastewater for the virus.
It noted that testing wastewater for poliovirus is a “developing science” and that wastewater can be affected by things such as flooding. And on July 21, the U.S. reported its first case in more than a decade had been found in New York State.
