The top two teams in the standings following group play advance to the quarter-finals, along with the two best third-place finishers in the 12-team tournament. “It was great to get ahead early, I thought we played well throughout the game, it was a shame we couldn’t pull out the three points, so we were pretty disappointed with that, but we’ll take the point.

“If you look at their results against top teams, they have not been beaten by a massive score line, they have been relatively close,” Priestman said. “So I think for us in that game, I think the patience element will be important.
