P.E.I. head coach Luke Beck said he felt his team played well. Beck said when teams go into the first game of a tournament, they are not quite sure what the opposition will be like and are also not quite sure what they have internally.
“The guys got through the first period, we came out, had a real strong start, got through some jitters and there was an awesome crowd here,” said Beck. “The second period, we settled in and had a great period. “The third period, I thought the guys started to get away from a little bit but that’s understandable at that stage. As coaches, we are extremely proud of our kids to come out and have a great first game at the Canada Games.”
