This year, Canada has witnessed several food recalls involving both conventional and plant-based products. The Public Health Agency of Canada reported a Listeria outbreak linked to plant-based milks, resulting in a third fatality. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has noted 139 food recalls this fiscal year.

Canada has experienced numerous high-profile food recalls this year, ranging from sweet kale chopped-salad kits to plant-based milks, with some cases of Listeria. The Public Health Agency of Canada reported that a third person died from a Listeria outbreak related to Great Value and Silk plant-based milks. The recall includes specific brands and types of plant-based milk with best-before dates up to and including October 4.

This year, there have been 139 food recalls so far, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Experts suggest that heightened awareness and rigorous testing might contribute to the perceived increase in recalls, but data does not indicate a significant rise in food safety issues
