Well, those 10 guys are the Chicago Bears’ top 10 all-time leaders in passing yardage with the franchise. No wonder drinking is so popular in the Midwest. Both the Ditka teams of the 1980s and Lovie Smith’s NFC champion squad in 2006 were carried to their success on the back of a generational defense. The collective sentiment was never, “Wow, what a nice quarterback Rex Grossman has turned into.” Moreover, it was, “Wow, I’m really impressed with how good this team is even though Rex Grossman is their quarterback.” The Bears can be a good team, but it can never be because of their offense and their quarterback.
Fields soon suffered an injury and the Bears’ offense returned to the usual Bears-ian standard of being terrible, but that stretch from October through November of 2022 showed us what the future could hold for Chicago. Solidified hopefully by the drafting ofas the team’s new right tackle, the continued improvement of Braxton Jones as the left tackle, and the acquisition of D.J.
