Ex-hurricane Nigel is currently positioned over the Atlantic Ocean and its remnants are forecast to bring heavy rain and strong winds to Ireland this weekend. Met Eireann has issued a number of weather warnings.
The ex-hurricane is currently churning over the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to go north west of Ireland towards Iceland.
It reads: “Spells of heavy rain, especially on hills and mountains. Potential Impacts: Localised flooding, Travel disruption.” Giving its overall forecast for this weekend, Met Eireann said it conditions will turn “unsettled, with heavy rain and strong winds at times”. “On Sunday morning, rain will develop in the south and spread northwards to all areas. It will be heavy at times with localised flooding, especially in east Munster, south Leinster and western parts of Connacht. The rain will clear to the northeast through the evening.
