California top court upholds ballot measure treating Uber, Lyft drivers as independent contractors - California 's top state court on Thursday upheld a measure approved by voters allowing app-based services such as Uber and Lyft to consider drivers in the most populous U.S. state as independent contractors rather than as employees entitled to greater benefits.

Uber, Lyft and other app-based services spent more than $200 million on a campaign to pass Prop 22, which they say will allow drivers to continue earning money while enjoying the flexibility of part-time gig work. BATESVILLE, Ark., July 25, 2024--A homeowner in Batesville, Arkansas, is the proud owner of a storm-resistant roof thanks to a $14,750 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas , awarded through its member Simmons Bank.

Congress didn't violate the Constitution in starting the process of creating term limits. The change was approved by states as required.
