These include defendants who have two or more prior convictions for cultivating more than six marijuana plants, and those who violate certain California environmental laws in their marijuana cultivation activities, the law firm reports. “Marijuana cultivation negatively impacts the environment in many ways, including diminishing and poisoning the water table, and pesticides adversely affecting the health of neighbouring residents,” notes the RCSD statement. The department, it adds, “has a zero-tolerance policy for these offences.”
