In 2019, the members of the Vancouver-Calgary trio The Promised received a message every band dreams of receiving yyc

They were contacted by a representative from the hit Netflix romance series Virgin River who had watched one of the trio’s videos and contacted the band.

Not bad given the fact that The Promised had yet to release its debut album and had been together less than a year by that point. Virgin River, now in its fifth season, was and remains one of Netflix’s most-watched shows and the band’s appearance in the episode on the soundtrack provided an immediate boost of fortunes for the act.

The Burches met in 2018 and joined forces with Shalala and former drummer Rylan Wood less than a year later. The sessions at the Warehouse were partially funded by the group’s grand-prize win at the 2019 Breakthrough Country music project in 2019. The Promised signed with Vancouver’s MyTone Records and joined Country Rebel, a media and production company based in Tennessee specializing in country music that helped push a number of the band’s live videos to a larger audience.
