A partnership between the Calgary Stampeders Foundation and the City of Calgary will transform underused space at Fonda Park into three flag football fields, aiming to increase sports accessibility for the community.
A special celebration was held Saturday at Fonda Park, showcasing an empty and underused recreation space that will soon become three brand new flag football fields.
The project is a partnership between the Calgary Stampeders Foundation and the City of Calgary, aiming to create more opportunities for young athletes and families to get active. The initial budget is $1.65 million, with $500,000 coming from the Grey Cup Legacy Fund. The new fields are expected to be open for bookings and use by April 2027.
