One week after announcing it would not put on a Canada Day fireworks show this year, the City of Calgary has backtracked on that plan.
Coun. Dan McLean posted the draft motion on his Facebook page Thursday morning. It directed administration to bring back the aerial fireworks display this year, “provided that it can be achieved within existing budgets.”
“It’s completely performative,” said Robinson. “And then to do a pyrotechnics show? Then, really, what has changed? Not much. You know, you’re just changing one style to another. To me, you’re still celebrating Canada Day.”
