When the season-long Fortinet Cup standings are finalized Sunday, the top five will climb to the next level, scoring status on the Korn Ferry Tour. “It validates what you’re doing, for sure, and makes you feel good about yourself,” MacDougall said after vaulting 29 spots — from No. 81 to No. 52 — in the Fortinet Cup standings with his T-6 finish in Minnesota. “I can imagine going the other way would be hard, so I’m glad I don’t have to deal with that. I was happy with how I fought, how I hung with it mentally, and it gave me some confidence with the stuff that I’ve been working on.
