Tyler Pace is a large reason why the Calgary Roughnecks have moved on to the second round of the National Lacrosse League playoffs.
“You know … he’s huge for us,” Calgary head coach Curt Malawsky said moments after Pace’s game-high four-goal, eight-point performance in the semifinal. “He puts a lot of pressure on himself. He’s a perfectionist, and he’s a big-game player. He proved it — like he had all three in the fourth quarter outside of Cornwall’s empty-netter. But, you know, he moves his feet well, he’s so intelligent — it’s like we’ve got another coach on the floor — and he sees stuff out there.
With Pace out, it means a chance for one of fellow forward Zach Herreweyers or defencemen Kieran McKay or Harrison Matsuoka to suit up for Game 1. All three were healthy scratches for the win over Panther City and Matsuoka is the most likely candidate to draw in, although the Riggers might lean towards Herreweyers and his shooting ability.Article content
