Calgary police are investigating the death of a woman found in a southwest Calgary home early Monday morning as suspicious. Officers responded to a 911 call at a residence in the 100 block of Belmont Drive SW around 1:50 am. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of a woman inside. Authorities believe the incident was targeted and emphasize that there is no risk to the public. The duplex remained cordoned off with police tape and a patrol unit was stationed outside Monday afternoon.
A window on the back door appeared to be smashed. Neighbours reported believing a couple resided in the home and stated that police had not been seen at the address previously. Residents of the basement suite said they were interviewed by investigators following the discovery of the woman's body, but no one reported hearing any unusual noises from the residence overnight.
