A 39-year-old Calgary man faces charges after RCMP investigated break-and-enters at luxury homes in Rocky View County and recovered three stolen vehicles.
A 39-year-old Calgary man faces criminal charges in connection with a series of break-and-enters targeting luxury homes in Rocky View County, Cochrane RCMP said. The investigation began on Sept. 23 and led to the recovery of three stolen vehicles and the man's arrest on Oct. 1.
Break-ins Reported in Rocky View County
Cochrane RCMP launched the investigation on Sept. 23 after a series of break-ins left a number of homes damaged when suspects forcibly gained entry.
Police said many items were stolen from the homes, including multiple vehicles. The break-ins targeted luxury homes in Rocky View County, east of Cochrane.
The investigation identified a suspect, and officers worked in tandem with members of the Calgary police to recover two stolen vehicles.
Search Warrant Leads to Arrest in Calgary
On Oct. 1, officers executed a search warrant at a Calgary home. There, they located the suspect driving a third stolen vehicle and took him into custody.
The 39-year-old Calgary man was charged with three counts of break, enter and theft; theft of a motor vehicle; possession of property obtained by crime; and flight from a peace officer.
Police said the man faces additional charges from the Calgary Police Service in connection to separate investigations.
Following a bail hearing, the accused was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court in Cochrane on Tuesday.
Investigation Continues as Charges Possible
Police said the investigation continues, with additional charges possible.
The case involves a coordinated effort between Cochrane RCMP and Calgary police, highlighting the cross-jurisdictional nature of the investigation.
Rocky View County is a municipal district in southern Alberta that surrounds Calgary and includes several rural and acreage communities.
