A Calgary man is facing charges after a collision on Glenmore Trail in December led to the death of an 18-year-old passenger, police said Wednesday.

19-year-old Calgary driver, Kane Anignostis Burrows, is facing multiple charges related to impairment, dangerous driving, and driving without a licence. Police were called to a location on eastbound Glenmore Trail S.W., west of Crowchild Trail, around 9:45 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2024.

A 2018 BMW driven by a 19-year-old male with two passengers, aged 18 and 21, left eastbound Glenmore and struck a crane sitting on the right shoulder of the road. "The driver of the BMW sustained serious injuries, the 18-year-old passenger was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition where he later succumbed to his injuries, the 21-year-old passenger had minor injuries and the crane operator was uninjured," police said in a release.

The 19-year-old Calgary driver, Kane Anignostis Burrows, is facing multiple charges related to impairment, dangerous driving, and driving without a licence.
