Bigras said the businesses hosting pop-ups will be promoted, but the times will remain a secret, so that people won’t know exactly when the shows might take place. She said they will be short — generally one song — and everything will be age-appropriate for the venue.
She said she likes the idea of spreading the pop-ups at random times all across the city to deter protesters, but for her it’s more about visibility. They’re selling tickets to the event, with all proceeds going to charities that work with the queer community. Marx said it will be a pay-what-you-can event, so financial barriers do not prevent people from attending.
“My co-host and co-creator of the event, Addi Pose, is a trained figure skater,” said Marx. “She is going to be throwing down some amazing world-class moves. She certainly can do all the twirls and jumps and things like that.”
