A large emergency response was triggered at a southeast Calgary condo complex after a carbon monoxide alarm went off, leading to the evacuation of nearly two dozen residents. The Calgary Fire Department reported CO levels of approximately 300 ppm, emphasizing the dangers of this odorless, tasteless, and colorless gas.

A chart from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation shows how elevated levels of carbon monoxide can be very dangerous to your health., exposure to a level of 200 ppm for a period of 2-3 hours can cause a slight headache, fatigue, dizziness and nausea, while exposure to a level of 800 ppm can also cause convulsions within 45 minutes and death within 2-3 hours.
