The film, from director Athina Rachel Tsangari, is the reason why the U.S. actor spoke with a thick Scottish accent while in Venice to promote Luc Besson's latest feature.
, Tsangari’s first feature since her multi-award-winning comedy-drama Chevalier.
Based on the award-winning 2013 novel of the same name by Jim Crace, the feature is to be produced by Sixteen Films’ O’Brien and Joslyn Barnes for New York-based Louverture Films, whose credits include the Oscar-nominated The novel — which won the Man Booker Prize in 2013 — is set in a medieval English village that comes under threat when a trio of outsiders arrive from beyond the woodland borders, triggering a series of events.
