Calabogie Peaks president Paul Murphy had said Tuesday that staff who arrived early to start the chairlifts and groom the ski trail noticed a fire in one corner of the pump house at about 6:45 a.m. and called 911. No one was injured but the building was quickly engulfed in flames. Firefighters “did a great job containing the fire, making sure everybody was safe and preventing any other adjoining buildings from catching fire,” Murphy said.

The plan is to build a small temporary pump house to start making snow for the rest of the ski season at what’s billed as the tallest public ski resort in Ontario. Renfrew OPP said that the fire marshal will not be investigating because the blaze was not considered suspicious.
